A site survey should shape the proposal. Keep the layout, scope, and handover requirements in writing.

Bring the information that changes the design
Share recent electricity bills, your normal daytime routine, and any plans for new air conditioners, pumps, or other loads. Tell the team whether outage backup is a priority and which appliances matter most. If you already have solar, provide the inverter and battery model numbers.
Arrange access to the areas that need assessment. Roof photos are useful when booking, but they cannot answer every question about structure, cable routes, or the existing electrical installation. Raise access restrictions, roof leaks, and any planned building work early.
Expect a proposal you can discuss
Ask for the proposed panel layout and an equipment schedule with exact model numbers. The feasibility report should explain the basis of the generation estimate, expected on-site use, and any export or battery assumptions.
Read the exclusions. Clarify whether civil works, electrical upgrades, monitoring setup, connection-related assistance, and follow-up visits are included. If something changes after the survey, ask for an updated scope before approving the work.
Agree how installation will affect the property
Discuss access hours, equipment storage, expected electrical interruptions, and who will coordinate with the household or building manager. A written contact person and work sequence can prevent small misunderstandings from delaying the job.
Ask how roof penetrations, mounting, cable routes, and equipment locations will be approved. Manufacturer instructions and the project’s electrical and structural requirements should guide these details. Do not treat a standard installation photograph as a design for your own roof.
Take time over the handover
Ask the team to demonstrate normal operation, monitoring where included, and the shutdown procedure for your installed equipment. Collect warranty documents, model and serial-number records, commissioning information, and service contact details. Confirm the maintenance arrangements you have agreed.
