Compare the complete installed scope, not just the price printed beside a panel.

Price per watt is only one part of the bill
A panel’s price per watt lets you compare the purchase cost of modules with different power ratings. For example, a hypothetical 600 W panel at Rs 30 per watt costs Rs 18,000. That is an arithmetic example, not a current RENS offer or a market price.
The installed price also has to cover the inverter, mounting structure, cables, protection equipment, labour, and testing. Roof access, cable routes, and any electrical work can change the scope. Ask for these items in writing rather than assuming they sit inside a single headline figure.
Ask every installer to quote the same system
Start with a short brief: your city, recent electricity use, roof details, and whether you need backup. Then ask each installer to price the same requirements. Comparing an on-grid package with a battery-backed hybrid package will tell you little about value.
Your quotation should identify panel quantity and model, total panel capacity, inverter model, structure type, battery model and capacity if included, installation work, taxes, and exclusions. It should also state how long the offer is valid and which payments fall due at each stage.
Check the parts you will depend on later
Ask who handles an equipment warranty claim and whether collection, transport, or replacement labour costs extra. Keep the supplier’s invoice and the equipment serial numbers. A long warranty heading is less useful than knowing how a claim will be handled.
Clarify whether monitoring setup, a handover visit, and after-sales support are included. Ask which maintenance tasks you will need to arrange yourself. These are ordinary ownership questions, and a useful quotation should answer them.
Get a price for your property
RENS starts with a free site survey and a discussion of your actual needs. The feasibility report and proposal explain the recommended system, the assumptions behind it, and what the quotation covers. Bring recent electricity bills and tell us which appliances you want to use during an outage.
If you are still deciding on size, read our 5 kW and 10 kW system guides next. Treat a package size as a starting point for the conversation. Your roof and usage should decide the final design.

RENS guides explain solar planning and the questions to ask before installation. General guidance and illustrative examples do not replace equipment instructions, current local rules or a site-specific design.
